One of the best times of the year to be a fan of amusement parks in the United States is the late summer and early fall, probably better described as “Announcement Season.” During this period every year, parks around the country will announce their “new-for-next-year” projects in order to build excitement for the following season.
For many announcements, the parks will begin to tease what they’ll be adding on social media in the weeks leading up to the big day. While several “new-for-2024” attractions haven’t even opened yet, we wanted to take a look at the parks that are beginning to tease “something” for 2025.
Kings Dominion – Announcement: July 31
Kings Dominion began teasing their new addition on June 27, with a simple photo of the Jungle X-Pedition map inside the park, with a mark in the top of the photo. This photo eventually became a grid of 9 photos – all of the Jungle X-Pedition area with three “claw marks” taken out of the photos. All of the photos simply featured the caption, “Details Landing July 31.”
At the conclusion of the Instagram grid tease, there was a post that simply said “Conquer the Skies,” and followed by another post several days later that encouraged guests to “Keep Your Eyes on The Skies”

Depending on which corners of the internet you frequent, you might have seen photos from guests who are keeping their eyes skyward, as large green roller coaster track began sprouting out from fences surrounding the Whey Foundation’s research center on the former site of Volcano: The Blast Coaster. We can’t wait to see the finished product and theming with whatever the Whey Foundation has unearthed in Jungle-X!
Canada’s Wonderland – Announcement: August 8
Canada’s Wonderland began teasing for their new announcement on July 19, with the simple announcement that a “New Adventure is Coming 8/8.”

The tease features the announcement date, along with two similiar, but totally different symbols, which was followed up with another tweet the next saying “Discover the legend within.” The video features a lantern, presumably exploring the inside of…something, and then colors of red and blue.

This was followed up again with another tweet – noting that we have been warned. The red and blue return, along with the symbols, and signage with “Beware” on it.

Whatever Canada’s Wonderland is teasing, it’s ominous. We can’t wait for August 8.
Carowinds – Announcement Date: TBD
🏕️ Something new is coming to #Carowinds. pic.twitter.com/hOR12Egmcr
— Carowinds (@Carowinds) July 23, 2024
On July 23, Carowinds posted on social media that something new – “Funner, Faster, and Splashier” is coming to the park. Given the use of the tent emoji at the beginning of the tweet, along with the wilderness motif, it’s our guess that this addition might be something coming to the park’s Camp Snoopy area, but we’ll have to see!
Six Flags Mexico – Announcement Date: TBD
Less of a tease, and more of an announcement, but Six Flags Mexico will be building a roller coaster in the near future.
— Six Flags Mexico (@SixFlagsMexico) July 16, 2024
After some quick typing into Google Translate, we deciphered the message.
“Six Flags Mexico has always complied with current environmental laws. We are pleased to report that we have found a solution that responds to the request of the authorities and the feelings of the neighbors, always in favor of the environment. We reaffirm our commitment to Mexico City and assure that no trees will be felled for the installation of a new Roller Coaster, which will be relocated to another area of the park.
The objective of the neighborhood consultation proposed by the authorities is to understand the feelings of the community and address them.
We are excited about our new and unique Roller Coaster, to celebrate our 25th anniversary in Mexico, improving the city’s tourism offering and generating jobs, especially for the inhabitants of Tlalpan.
Six Flags reaffirms its commitment to being an entertainment option for thousands of families in Mexico.”
So, a roller coaster is coming. No trees will be removed from the park to ensure this coaster is built. More on this as we find out more!
Six Flags Great America – Announcement Date: TBD
Something iS coming, just wAit pic.twitter.com/NrTxAlew28
— Six Flags Great America (@SFGreat_America) July 18, 2024
We’re unsure if this is a 2025 tease or a 2024 haunt tease, but something iS coming, just wAit. If there are additional tweets, I wonder if the capital letter trend will continue. We have at least 1 S and 1 A (and maybe 2 S’s if they intentionally capitalized the first letter of the tweet.). Another series of tweets that we’ll just have to wait and see!

— Six Flags Great America (@SFGreat_America) July 25, 2024
A new tweet has capitalized 3 more S, a R and a H alongside a pair of glowing eyes. Curious though as demon is now mentioned alongside the iconic glowing eyes, if this is now something that is involving the 48 year old Demon roller coaster built by Arrow.
Lost Island – Announcement: TBD
View this post on Instagram
Iowa’s Lost Island Theme Park has been teasing an RMC off and on for several months, under the guise of a hot sauce. In one of their most recent Instagram posts, they poll park guests to determine if the flavor reminds them more of the “Fiery Bite of a Raptor” or “Bold in Flavor Like a Wild Moose?”
Will Lost Island truly add an RMC, or are they just messing with enthusiasts? Only one way to know for sure!
