Welcome to a new series on Coaster101 where we are featuring artists in the coaster and theme park community who have used their talents to create artwork inspired by roller coasters and the amusement industry.
Today, we’re featuring the artwork of Leanna Iezzi. Leanna is a 21-year-old roller coaster enthusiast from Atco, NJ. She has an associate’s degree in fine arts from Camden County College in New Jersey.
Leanna recently completed a painting of Kingda Ka, which Six Flags Great Adventure recently announced was not returning in 2025.
I want to be able to capture and save that distinct feeling when you see that huge coaster in the distance waiting for you, the beauty of the views around you when you’re so high up, and those moments of pure bliss as you’re coasting along, higher than everyone below you.
She has visited parks across the country, including those in the Northeast such as Six Flags Great Adventure, Hersheypark, Busch Gardens Williamsburg as well as smaller seaside parks along the coast.
Leanna has been a roller coaster fanatic for as long as she can remember, and that passion has translated into her art:
“When I paint, I love being able to add my own personal touch to bring out their beauty and architectural greatness.”
Leanna hopes that her art captures the excitement and thrill of her subjects:
“The breathlessness that comes as you crest the top of the lift, the excited screams full of adrenaline; there’s really nothing like it. I hope my paintings allow those feelings to last longer, as they are over very quickly while on a ride.”
Leanna expects her love of coasters to continue to influence her art:
“Coasters are a huge part of my life; the memories, friends, and moments that have come with riding them will live with me forever, and will always be an inspiration to keep painting, and to keep riding.”
