Kings Dominion announced today that the park’s “Project 305” Intamin giga coaster (formerly known as Intimidator 305) will be rethemed and renamed “Pantherian” in 2025. The coaster will sport a new color scheme of orange track and black supports and will be themed so that it fits within the park’s “Jungle X-Pedition” area.
The park announced the news in a Facebook post:
Our world-class giga coaster is evolving in 2025! During your trek through Jungle X-Pedition, you’ll discover Pantherian, a shrine dedicated to the sleek, stealthy jungle cat. As with the other shrines and temples in Jungle X-Pedition, within Pantherian is a mystical steel contraption built by the ancients. Anyone who enters will take on the mythical beast’s most defining characteristics: speed, agility and raw power. The ride’s transformation comes with new paint colors for the support columns and track.
Photos shared on Reddit earlier this month revealed that crews have already begun painting the coaster in its new orange and black color scheme.
Pantherian is a 305-foot-tall Intamin giga coaster, with a 300-foot first drop, top speed of 90 mph and 5,100 feet of track. Opened in 2010, the coaster was originally named after the late NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt, who was commonly referred to as “The Intimidator.” After those licensing rights expired, the park temporarily renamed the coaster “Project 305” for the 2024 season as the official new name was being prepared.
More information about Pantherian can be found on the Kings Dominion website.
