Lost Island Announces Fire Runner RMC Coaster

On National Roller Coaster Day, Waterloo, Iowa’s Lost Island Theme Park announced Fire Runner, a new single-rail roller coaster for the 2025 season. This will be the sixth Raptor coaster by Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) to open in the United States. Fire Runner will have three inversions, a top speed of 52 miles per hour, and 1,950 feet of track. This looks to be a slightly modified version of the original Raptor layout as the track length is 150 feet longer than Stunt Pilot, Railblazer, and Wonder Woman.

There will be a custom designed lead car at the front of two, twelve car trains, unlike the original two RMC Raptors with eight cars each and Silverwood’s Stunt Pilot with ten.

We’re assuming this ride will be located in the Mura (Fire) themed region of the park.

Fire Runner will be Lost Island Theme Park’s first new roller coaster since its inaugural season in 2022 and fourth roller coaster overall. When we visited last year, we thought the new park was a true “diamond in the rough.” Lost Island’s General Manager Eric Bertch joined Andrew on the podcast to talk all things Lost Island, from concept, to creation, to operations and attraction highlights. We also talked to RMC COO Jake Kilcup.
