Last month, the highly anticipated sequel to one of the most popular roller coaster games was finally announced: Planet Coaster 2 will be coming in Fall 2024! Planet Coaster 2 builds upon the foundation of the original game plus the addition of new management options, expanded social functionality and, of course, the massively requested addition of water parks.

Construct water slides piece-by-piece just like roller coasters.

The Planet Coaster 2 teaser trailer shows some of the features to the game, such as updated path building and plazas. You’ll be able to build with friends in Sandbox and Franchise modes as well as walking around in first-person view.
Planet Coaster 2 Gameplay First Look
Frontier recently shared a first look at how they combined coasters and waters parks in Planet Coaster 2 in their first gameplay Deep Dive video (embedded below).
You can attach scenery directly to rides, letting them move in sync with any of the ride’s moving parts.
The early looks at Planet Coaster 2 seems to be heavily focused on the new water park aspects of the game. I’m real digging the realism with regards to managing and operating a water park:
- New staff type – lifeguards
- Guests will need access to changing rooms
- Pools and slides will need water filtration systems
- Guests can buy pool passes and inflatables
- Rides now have a power system so you’ll need to ensure you have enough electricity to keep everything up and running
- Guests are affected by more factors and can even get sunburns!
The developers have promised they’ve only scratched the surface of new features – we can’t wait to see what else is coming.
I don’t think any real roller coaster engineers will be using this software but it’s fun to see the improvements over the original game and the evolution of the theme park builder. Add Planet Coaster 2 to your wishlist now on Steam, Epic, Xbox X/S and PlayStation 5.
