In recent years, many parks around the world have placed a focus on family-friendly entertainment, and the latest is Carowinds, who will add two “Bigger. Better. Snoopy-er.” family-friendly attractions next season, including Snoopy’s Racing Railway, the park’s 15th roller coaster, and, Charlie Brown’s River Raft Blast, the first water ride to operate at Carowinds since the closure of Rip Roarin’ Rapids in 2018.
These additions, alongside splash play zones and a meet-and-greet experience with Peanuts costume characters, offer more spots for families to cool off along with new character experiences.
The addition of Snoopy’s Racing Railway will be the first new roller coaster to open at Carowinds since Copperhead Strike in 2019, and the first family-focused roller coaster to open at the park since Rugrats Runaway Reptar (later Flying Ace Aerial Chase and now Kiddy Hawk) opened in 2003. It will be located between Harmony Hall and Camp Snoopy, replacing Snoopy’s Junction.

Trains for Snoopy’s Racing Railway Being Painted
According to the park, guests will be able to join Snoopy as he races to deliver root beer and pizza to Camp Snoopy’s Mess Hall, where Woodstock and his yellow bird buddies are causing quite a ruckus. Manufactured by German coaster builders ART Engineering, this family-friendly steel launch coaster accelerates from 0 to 31 mph in seconds, and reaches heights of just over 40′, providing an exhilarating adventure for all ages. Riders will experience exciting dips and wild turns as they ensure the delivery arrives safely and on time, traversing the just over 800′ of steel track twice along their journey. Guests must be 48″ tall to ride alone OR 36″ tall and accompanied by a supervising companion. There is also a maximum height to experience this new coaster of 77″ tall. (6’5″)

Track Work is Underway on Snoopy’s Racing Railway
This will be the second installation of this coaster model at a Six Flags park, joining Canada’s Wonderland, where their coaster of the same name opened in 2023. With the 36″ minimum height requirement (with an accompanying supervising companion), it will be join Wilderness Run as a perfect “first coaster ride” experience for younger guests!
Park guests who have lamented the lack of a traditional water ride on the “dry side” of Carowinds for the past several years are also in luck in 2025 as Charlie Brown’s River Raft Blast, an “Interactive Boat Ride” from MACK Rides – maybe better known as a Splash Battle (though those were from a different company), fills the park’s water ride gap, and will be a perfect way to beat the heat on those hot Carolina summer days, especially with a ride time of longer than four minutes.

River Raft Blast Boats Being Prepped
Families can hop aboard one of seven eight-seater boats at Snoopy’s swimming hole for a splish-splash adventure with family and friends. The water will be flying in all directions (up to 33 feet!) as each ride vehicle is equipped with on-board water cannons. Riders can engage in friendly water skirmishes with the six other boats as well as guests on land – equipped with water cannons of their own! – spraying each other as they navigate the river channel. Throughout their journey, riders will encounter their favorite Peanuts characters swimming, floating, and splashing—all eager to drench them in fun!
“We’re excited to introduce the latest adventures in Camp Snoopy in 2025,” Manny Gonzalez, vice president and general manager for Carowinds, said. “Our re-imagined Camp Snoopy will allow families to ride and play together, immersing them in a summer camp experience with the Peanuts gang. From the thrilling twists of Snoopy’s Racing Railway to the splashes at Charlie Brown’s River Raft Blast, our focus is on family fun. These new features will transform Camp Snoopy into more than just a place to play and cool off; it will become a destination for creating family memories.”
In addition to two the new attractions, Carowinds will also be adding some additional new enhancements to Camp Snoopy, including two new “Splash Play Zones” and a new “Meet & Greet Experience” for guests to interact with the Peanuts gang.
Families will be able to beat the heat in Camp Snoopy’s brand-new splash play zone areas, located near Beagle Scout Acres. Featuring enhanced shade and refreshing water features, these areas are designed to ensure everyone stays cool and has fun. The ample shade and water make it a perfect place to “beat the heat” without trekking their beach bags and flip flops all the way to Carolina Harbor.
Elsewhere in Camp Snoopy, guests will be able to enter the newly remodeled Camp Store to meet Peanuts costume characters at their interactive, camp-themed meet-and-greet area. Complete with rustic log benches around a cozy firepit, this air-conditioned environment will offer ideal photo opportunities and memorable interactions with favorite characters.
The latest additions to Camp Snoopy only build upon the 50-year history of Carowinds’ “children’s area,” which has been home to the characters from Hanna-Barbera (1975-2004), Nickelodeon (2005-2009) and Peanuts (2010-Present). The two new attractions give the footprint a total of 13 rides and promises endless adventure for guests of all ages, making Camp Snoopy a must-visit destination for family fun in 2025.
