Carnival will no longer have the only roller coasters at sea, as this week Disney Cruise Line announced Ironcycle Test Run for the Disney Adventure ship.
This will be a Maurer Rides Spike coaster model that will set the world record for longest roller coaster at sea with 820 feet of track, besting the Carnival BOLT coaster’s 721 track length. The ride will feature theming based on Iron Man, where riders will be testing out Tony Stark’s latest Ironcycle invention.
Disney says, “After a quick driving lesson from F.R.I.D.A.Y., guests will set out on a gravity-defying ride suspended 30 feet above the upper deck aboard what will be the longest roller coaster at sea.” This implies that riders may be able to choose their own speed throughout the ride, similar to the BOLT coasters found on Carnival ships. The layout also looks more interesting than other models, with higher turns and more elements.
The Iron Man roller coaster will be located in Marvel Landing, which Disney calls their first “adventure zone” at sea, seemingly emulating the lands found at their theme parks.
Also in Marvel Landing will be Pym Quantum Racers, an Ant-Man themed car driving attraction that looks to be geared towards younger children. On this attraction, riders will “zip around a full-scale toy set track, navigating outsized and undersized obstacles along the way.”
The third attraction will be Groot Galaxy Spin, which appears to be a Zamperla Jump Around flat ride. This ride will be themed to Guardians of the Galaxy, with fun ride vehicles that look like mini Star Blasters.
The Marvel landing area will also feature a sundeck with an infinity pool and pool bar inspired by the architecture of Tony Stark’s mansion. Bookings for the Disney Adventure are scheduled to open on December 10, 2024. The latest Disney cruise ship will sail out of Singapore starting December 2025.
