Herschend Acquiring Palace Entertainment’s US Parks and Attractions from Parques Reunidos

Herschend, owner of parks and attractions such as Dollywood and Silver Dollar City, announced today plans to acquire all of Palace Entertainment’s US parks and attractions from Parques Reunidos.

The acquisition includes more than 20 amusement parks, water parks, family entertainment centers, campgrounds, and hotels across 10 states. Amusement parks to be acquired by Herschend include:

  • Kennywood (Pittsburgh, PA)
  • Dutch Wonderland (Lancaster, PA)
  • Lake Compounce (Bristol, CT)
  • Story Land (Glen, NH)
  • Idlewild & SoakZone (Ligonier, PA)
  • Adventureland Resort (Altoona, IA)

Also included in the deal are seven water parks, two animal parks, three campgrounds, one hotel and four family entertainment centers).

The acquisition will allow Parques Reunidos to focus on its core European market while solidifying Herschend as the world’s largest family-owned themed entertainment company.

Herschend plans to ensure a smooth transition with no immediate operational changes. The company will focus on supporting employees with training and resources, maintaining high-quality guest experiences, and engaging with local communities throughout the transition.
