Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Unviersal Studios Florida will close in early September 2025 to make way for a “new experience,” according to a statement from Universal sent to the Orlando Sentinel.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit opened in 2009.
The Maurer Rides GmbH “X-Car” coaster features a 167-foot-tall lift hill, a top speed of 65 mph and 3,800 feet of track.
Although the coaster has no inversions, it does sport an iconic “non-inverting” loop.
The coaster also flies through one of the building facades in the New York section of the park.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit’s onboard audio allows each rider to choose from one of five songs from varying genre. That song, played through two speakers on each seat’s headrest, would give riders a unique experience while riding.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Closing – Why?
Many fans are asking why Universal is closing a roller coaster that *just* opened in 2009. While we’ll probably never get an official explanation, this problematic roller coaster video from El Toro does a good job of explaining the issues with the coaster over the years.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit might be one of the most polarizing roller coasters currently operating. While we named it one of the ten best roller coasters in Florida, others have called it “painful” or “horrific.”
